MINERAL POTENTIAL OF ETHIOPIA

MINERAL POTENTIAL OF ETHIOPIA

ETHIOPIA

The Federal Republic of Ethiopia has a vast panoply of minerals yet to be explored properly
and extracted to the benefit of all parties involved. I have spent + 40 in exploration and
mining in Africa. During that time, I have lived and worked in ten different countries in Africa
From Guinea West Africa, to 15 years in the Democratic Republic of Congo, to Angola and
South Africa and points in between. I discovered the first commercial gold mine in Guinea
West Africa which 34 years later in still producing + 280,000 oz of gold per year.

I have partnered with, worked, or consulted for numerous International Mining Companies
over my forty plus years in Africa. Had I known about Ethiopia in 1980 when I first came to
Africa, it would have been my preferred destination. However, in 1974 Emperor Haile
Selassie was deposed and assassinated by the communist DERG in 1975. The idiot head of
the DERG, Mengistu wanted to model the country on the lines of the Proletariat Revolution
of 1917. Hence mineral exploration and mining were ignored in favor of an agrarian society.
Foreign companies were rarely welcomed unless they spoke Russian. The agrarian model
did not work and in a military coup in 1991 led by the present head of Government, Mengistu
was deposed and took refuge in Zimbabwe.

It is my opinion that Ethiopia is a close second to the Democratic Republic of Congo in terms
of untapped mineral wealth. The world Bank and the USGS estimates that DRCongo has 23
trillion US in untapped mineral wealth, making it one of the richest countries in the world and
yet it ranks as the 5th poorest country in the world .

Ethiopia has a vast untapped mineral potential due to the lack of systematic exploration.
They have a variety of minerals available in large quantities including but not are limited to:

  1. PGM (Gold, Platinum, Niobium)
  2. Base metals (copper, zinc, lead, iron ore, nickel, cobalt, molybdenum)
  3. Tantalum, lithium, beryllium and Rare Earth Elements.
  4. Gems (opal, corundum, beryl, diamonds, peridot)
  5. Industrial Minerals (potash and other industrial minerals)

The oldest recorded gold mine in the world is located at Asosa in Ethiopia. It dates back
6,000 years and was the site where the Egyptian Pharos got their gold. The Asosa Gold Belt
and the Adola Gold belt are considered to be the richest gold belts in Ethiopia and fall within
the areas we have identified and are filing on.

Our company Kush Mining & Exploration has conducted an extensive survey of the mineral
potential of Ethiopia in the last nine months. We have identified more than 8,000 km² of gold,
platinum, tantalum, lithium and base metals prospects. Our team in Ethiopia has access to
all levels of Governments (National, Provincial and Local).

We recently filed for a major Tantalum Columbium/Lithium concession and are in the
process of filing another for gold and platinum

Kush Mining and Exploration Plc, is looking to partner with serious financially and
technologically advanced mining companies to develop the vast mineral potential of
Ethiopia.
